First introduced in October 2016, this is a limited edition release from Maison Ferrand. Their old tom gin has been recreated by Alexandre Gabriels and  is made by adding some caramelized Caribbean brown sugar to their Citadelle Reserve Gin, which in turn is a barrel-aged version of their standard gin. The old tom is aged for four months prior to bottling at 46% ABV. This sweetness enhances the floral aromas and vanilla notes, leading to a fresh, juicy finish with some spice.

The result is true to the historic style of gin – fresh, floral and juicy – and can be enjoyed over ice or in long drinks or cocktails.

Tasting notes: 

• Nose: fresh and strong on the nose. At the beginning hints of juniper, orange peel and cardamom. Developing flowery aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle, as well as fennel, cumin and slightly sweet hints of coffee and vanilla.
• Palate: Full-bodied and elegant on the palate with bittersweet profiles of candied lemon peel, black weed, anise and almonds. In the course spicy notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and Java peppercorn. A very long finish that is floral, spicy and woody at the same time. Notes of coriander, violet, angelica, cumin, grains of paradise and liquorice become apparent. Aromas of juniper pine resin, lemon zest and vanilla remain in the empty glass.
