Stoneflow Wild Cucumber has been a judge's favourite over the years in South African and international spirits competition. Since 2017, Stoneflow Wild Cucumber has received a series of Gold Medals, Double-Gold medals at the 2019 Michelangelo International awards, a Silver Medal in the 2020 International Wine and Spirits Competition, and a Bronze Medal at the 2021 International Spirits Challenge.

Smooth, fresh and clean – this is a distinctive and complex cucumber gin.  Clear notes of cucumber combine with an edge of kiwi. Clear juniper adds middle to high notes.

Botanical insight: The African horned melon or Kiwano (Cucumis metuliferus). This stunning fruit, that grows wild in the Bushveld, delivers wonderful fresh cucumber and lime early in the ripening cycle.  As its colours change from speckled green to a distinctive swirling orange, vibrant but subtle flavours of green melon and  kiwi emerge. 

Floral depth is provided by Buddleja salvifolia the Bushveld’s prolifically flowering ‘Butterfly Bush’, so-named because of the masses of butterflies it attracts in early summer.

About Stoneflow Distillery:  Stoneflow Distillery was conceived and perfected amid the wonderfully diverse vegetation of the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site where our earliest ancestors took their first steps.  Its very name coming from the rock formations that define the area. It was here that the team first experimented with Wild Cucumber as a garnish in a sundowner – and the idea of Stoneflow Gin was born.

Drawing its flavours from the rich palette of indigenous bushveld botanicals Stoneflow’s unique gins were crafted to capture the essence of this African wilderness.
