This is a traditionally made sloe gin in the English style, with sloes steeped in Camden Valley Dry Gin.

The nostalgic English Sloe Gin tradition was … at the end of Summer, the extended family would get together and take the children out berry foraging while the adults sat around sipping gin and tonics. Eating all the mulberries and the blackberries, the kids would return home with a mass of sloe berries (blackthorn berries, which tasted awful) as a gift for the parents. With nothing else to do with them, the sloes would be soaked in gin until Christmas, at which time they would be strained, and the resulting liquor lightly sweetened and then served as a digestive after Christmas roast dinner.

The children were given a tablespoon of sloe gin as a treat for their hard work gathering the fruit (no longer allowed, of course).

This Sloe Gin is made in the Camden Valley in a 50L copper pot still, using a combination of local and traditional ingredients. All water in the process comes from a spring in the Southern Highlands.

Botanicals are steeped, boiled and basket infused in varying combinations. All bottling and labelling done by hand on the property.

Botanicals: Juniper (macedonian and Bulgarian), Coriander seed, Angelica root, Licorice root, Walnuts, Thyme and Meyer Lemons. Sloe Berries of course.

Serving suggestions:

• Best over ice with a twist of orange, or in a Charlie Chaplin cocktail
